NORTH SHORE ACTION FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING
NORTH SHORE ACTION FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Lets face it.. our wages have not kept up with the Cost of Living in one of the most expensive places to raise a family in Canada.
Winning the lottery or inventing a Time Machine is NOT a solid plan to improve affordability.
JOIN OUR CAMPAIGN to let local governments know that YOU deserve to be included in the plan for housing affordability on the NORTH SHORE.

225 East 2nd St. North Vancouver - City of North Vancouver / Catalyst Community Development Society
950/970 22nd Street West Vancouver Kiwanis Village West - Kiwanis North Shore Housing Society
Lillooet Road Housing Project - District of North Vancouver / BC Housing / More Than A Roof Society
workers are spending MORE THAN 30% of their monthly income on housing related costs
the pressure on purchasing power is causing people to ALTER THEIR LIVING arrangments (ie. roomates, etc)
housing affordability issues have resulted in many workers FORCED TO MOVE out of the communities they are currently employed in
solving the housing affordability crisis WILL REQUIRE more attention to median-income earning families and individuals rather than solely focusing on low-income groups
DID YOU KNOW
who we are
Our organization’s goal is to work within the community to amplify working people’s voice on the North Shore. Our ACTION campaign is focused on building relationships with various levels of governments, advocating for the formation of partnerships to deliver more Affordable Housing projects for working people on the North Shore.
HOW IT WORKS
Affordable Housing dedicated to low and median-income families and individuals on the North Shore based on income threshold requirements. We are also advocating for affordable housing built with inclusive inventory options for people with various accessibility challenges.
publicly resourced partnerships can provide a diverse response towards affordable housing needs
below-market rental opportunities
workforce housing rental and ownership programs
creation of a Regional Housing Authority
Advocate for the three North Shore municipalities to create and fund the NORTH SHORE HOUSING AUTHORITY
Representing similar demographics, the Whistler Housing Authority has created over 7300 beds of affordable rental and ownership housing dedicated to workers in their community
workforce housing options allow workers to live and contribute to their community; assisting public employers with recruitment and retention issues where the housing affordability crisis has been a challenge in drawing qualified candidates, placing the quality of public services at risk
